2nd Trans-Street-Day in Dresden

After the successful Trans-Street-Day 2004, Transsexuals (TS) and Transgender (TG) from Dresden decided to celebrate the Trans-Street-Day (TSD) as part of the Christopher Street Day again this year. During the weekend from 3rd to the 5th June 2005 we, together with Gays and Lesbians, will claim our right of acceptance and fair treatment.

Transsexuals and Transgender are still way to often rejected and at best seen as “exotic” by other people. False and missing understanding for them is probably a result of the fact, that TS and TG do not fit the common view society has of men and women. To change this publicly dominating perspective, while at the same time canvass for equal rights and freedom of decision for everyone’s own way of life, is our key goal for the 2nd Trans-Street-Day 2005.

At the same time we see ourselves in close connection with the current developments with the expansion of the European Union. This year’s motto of the CSD “Equal Rights for Lesbians, Gays and Transgender in Europe” is dedicated especially to fulfil that claim. Therefore the main focus of our appearance in the public will be a critical analysis of the current situation of transsexuals and transgender in European countries.

Beside the important political accents, this year’s agenda will again have room for a colourful, multi faceted and cheerful fun time. Start of the 2nd TSD is Friday the 3rd of June 2005. The highlight of this evening will be the TSD/CSD opening ball at the “Fischhaus” (a Restaurant), which already met big approval last year.

The big parade will start on Saturday at 1 pm. With it we will point out the special life situations of transsexuals and transgendered people. Our self designed information stand at the street celebration (start 4 pm) on “Alt Markt” (Old Market) that follows the parade will tell about the history of transsexuals and transgender (over the course of the last few thousand years) as well as offer knowledge on the current legal situation in Europe. There we will gladly answer all questions, which anyone interested in this subject may have. After so much exertion we need time to recover in a relax atmosphere, which the „Cat Club“ will offer in the evening. The CSD e.V. encourages all to join us for a big party. Through our participation we show we are part of the community too. Those who favour a relaxed chat with like minded people after the days exertion will find quite areas to retreat to as well in the “Cat Club”.

For the chill out of the 2nd Trans-Street-Day in Dresden, we have planed a common brunch (starting 11 am) on Sunday 5th of June in the “Sappho”.

All who take part in the transID group of Dresden and the Transgenderstammtisch Saxony are already looking forward to welcome our lovely guests to the 2nd Trans-Street-Day 2005. Further information about the schedule, organizing as well as lodging can be found on the TSD-homepage.
